Overview

In 2022, the Hungarian Ministry of Water Management initiated the Danube River Flood Control & Channel Renovation Project in Budapest. The project aimed to strengthen flood defenses, stabilize riverbanks, and improve waterway safety. Given the humid working conditions and continuous water exposure, the contractor required a formwork system that was durable, lightweight, and resistant to corrosion.

Zhuozhan Solution

Zhuozhan provided a plastic formwork system tailored to water conservancy projects along the Danube. The system featured:

Water-Resistant Panels: Maintained strength and stability even under long-term immersion.

Lightweight Modular Design: Enabled quick manual assembly in areas with limited crane access.

Custom Curved Panels: Adapted to irregular riverbank geometry, ensuring precise shaping.

High Reusability: Panels were used repeatedly across multiple embankment sections, reducing material costs.

Key Advantages

Moisture & Chemical Resistance: Outperformed timber in water-rich conditions.

Sustainability: Recyclable material supported EU green construction standards.

Efficiency: Reduced labor intensity and accelerated construction progress.

Cost-Effectiveness: Lower lifecycle cost compared to traditional methods.

Construction Application

Floodwalls & Retaining Structures: Provided smooth, accurate finishes requiring minimal post-treatment.

Riverbank Revetments: Adjusted flexibly to curved sections of the Danube.

Drainage Outlets & Culverts: Modular design allowed fast installation in confined spaces.

Results & Feedback

By February 2023, the project was completed successfully, improving flood resilience for central Budapest and safeguarding nearby residential and commercial areas.

Client Feedback
Mr. Kovács, Project Manager at Budapest Waterworks, shared:

“Zhuozhan’s plastic formwork exceeded our expectations in terms of durability and waterproofing performance. Despite the challenging riverside conditions, the panels remained stable and easy to handle. Their reusability saved significant costs, and Zhuozhan’s engineering team provided excellent on-site support. We would gladly recommend their solutions for future water conservancy projects.”

This project highlighted how Zhuozhan’s plastic formwork can meet the demanding requirements of European water management projects, providing durability, sustainability, and cost savings.
